Story Body

Gov. Jay Inslee today announced the appointment of Jackie Shea Brown to a newly created position on the Benton-Franklin County Superior Court. Shea Brown is currently a family and criminal law attorney in the Tri-Cities. She also serves as a judge pro tem in four local courts: Benton-Franklin County Superior Court, Franklin County District Court, Pasco Municipal Court and Benton County District Court.

“Jackie is highly respected among her peers and I am thrilled to appoint her to this new position,” Inslee said. “Her strong presence in and dedication to the community will make her an excellent judge.”

Shea Brown has practiced law for 22 years in the region, specializing in domestic, criminal and juvenile law. She is currently the president of the Benton-Franklin Legal Aid Society, a position she has held since 2013.

The Legislature created the additional position to the current six member court in 2013. The counties secured additional funding for the new position earlier this year. Brown’s appointment begins later this month.
