Governor Inslee announces appointment of Judge Michael Trickey to the Washington State Court of Appeals

Gov. Jay Inslee today announced that he is appointing Judge Michael Trickey to the Washington State Court of Appeals Division I.

Judge Trickey is currently serving on King County Superior Court where he was appointed and then elected in 1996. Prior to that, he served as a public defender in King County and spent 14 years in private practice with an emphasis on criminal defense. He has volunteered extensively on a range of judicial and sentencing boards, committees and work groups and is past president of the Washington Chapter of the American Judicature Society.

“Mike brings extensive courtroom experience that spans from family law to criminal defense,” said Governor Inslee. “He has been a leader on the court for years and brings a passion for fairness and justice that will serve him and the people of Washington well.”

Judge Trickey is replacing Judge Ken Grosse who is retiring after serving with distinction for 27 years. Judge Grosse is the longest serving appellate judge in the state.
