Story

Gov. Jay Inslee today announced the appointment of Jennifer Langbehn to the Snohomish County Superior Court. She is replacing Judge Michael Downes who is retiring on May 31.

Langbehn is currently serving as Snohomish court commissioner pro tempore and is an associate attorney at the Law Offices of Moriarty & Associates, PLLC in Mill Creek practicing in family law and dependency matters. Prior to joining Moriarty & Associates, Langbehn worked as a law clerk in the Attorney General’s Office for the University of Washington Health Sciences Division.

Langbehn has also served as a stakeholder in the Table of Ten, a Snohomish County program striving to enhance court workings in the child welfare system. Langbehn has pushed to improve parents’ ability to fully participate in the dependency process and increase the number of face-to-face contacts families have with their judicial officers.

"Jennifer has extensive experience in family law and working with juvenile offenders and individuals struggling with issues of addiction, mental health, and homelessness," Inslee said. "She has a strong reputation in the Snohomish County community as a hard worker and I look forward to the contributions she will bring to the bench."

Langbehn received her law degree from Seattle University. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from The Evergreen State College.

Her appointment is effective June 2018.
