Gov. Jay Inslee today announced that he is appointing David G. Estudillo to the Grant County Superior Court. He will replace Judge Evan Sperline, the longest serving Superior Court judge in Washington state. Estudillo’s term is effective beginning in September.
Estudillo has been an attorney in Washington state since 1999. Presently, he serves as the owner and principal attorney of Estudillo Law Firm, PLLC in Moses Lake. His practice focuses on issues of immigration law and general civil litigation. He has been an active member of the Washington Association for Justice and the Latino Bar Association of Washington. Additionally, his service has extended to the Washington State Bar Association’s Rules of Professional Conduct Committee and the Court Rules and Procedures Committee.
“David has been a leader in Washington’s legal community for many years. He has worked tirelessly as an attorney, community leader, and public servant,” Inslee said. “His commendable efforts and commitment to justice make him the right choice for the bench.”
Estudillo is the son of Mexican immigrants who first arrived in the United States in the 1960s via the Bracero Program. He was born and raised in Sunnyside and obtained both his undergraduate and Juris Doctorate degrees from the University of Washington. He will be the only Latino Superior, District, or Municipal court judge serving in all of Eastern Washington.
