Health Disparities, Governor's Interagency Coordinating Council on

Creates state action plans for eliminating health disparities by race/ethnicity and gender in Washington State. The Council also serves in an advisory capacity to the Governor and Legislature with Advisory Committees and Language Assistance in issuing recommendations for improving the availability of culturally appropriate health literature and interpretive services within public and private health-related agencies.

Member Requirements: The council shall include one representative from each of the following groups: Each of the commissions, the state board, the department, the department of social and health services, the *department of community, trade, and economic development, the health care authority, the department of agriculture, the department of ecology, the office of the superintendent of public instruction, the department of early learning, the workforce training and education coordinating board, and two members of the public who will represent the interests of health care consumers. The council shall reflect diversity in race, ethnicity, and gender.
*The terms of office for appointed Council members is three years unless the Governor determines otherwise at the time of appointment.*
