Learning Transformed

Project Overview

Washington has partnered with Microsoft Corporation to help transform teaching and learning through the enhanced use of technology. Pursuant to Microsoft's Partners in Learning education investment program, a five-year $2.5 million grant was jointly awarded to Cheney Public Schools and Eastern Washington University for the Learning Transformed project in June 2005.

Learning Transformed will build on more than 100 years of collaboration between the Cheney Public Schools and Eastern Washington University. It will prepare teachers in the Cheney Public Schools and pre-service teachers from Eastern Washington University to use technology-rich assessment, remediation and instructional tools in the classroom to improve student learning. The project will also establish a professional collaborative culture in the Cheney schools that research has shown leads to continuous improvement in schools. This will be modeled for future teachers in Eastern Washington University's teacher education program and lay groundwork for changing education in our State.
