Monitors the operation and activities of the hospital; reviews and advises on the hospital budget; makes recommendations to the Governor and the legislature for improving the quality of service provided by the hospital; and consults with the secretary of DSHS regarding the selection of superintendent.

Qualification:

The director of the institute; one family member of a current or recent hospital resident; one consumer of services; one community mental health service provider; two citizens with no financial or professional interest in mental health services; one representative of the regional support network in which the hospital is located; one representative from the staff who is a physician; one representative from the nursing staff; one representative from the other professional staff; one representative from the nonprofessional staff; and one representative of a minority community.
