Emergency Management Council
Advises the Governor and Director of the Military Department on all matters relating to state and local emergency management. Provides the Governor with an annual assessment of statewide preparedness for all natural, technological and man-made hazards. Periodically convenes in special session as the State Emergency Response Committee (SERC) to improve emergency preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery for hazardous materials.

Qualification:
Members to include, but are not limited to, representatives of city/county governments; sheriffs/police chiefs; local emergency management directors; search/rescue volunteers; emergency medical care professionals; local fire chiefs; building officials; private industry; the Washington State Patrol; the Department of Ecology; and the Military Department.
