Thank you for your willingness to devote your time and energy to serve the people of the state of Washington. This is a tremendous opportunity to have a significant influence on decisions and actions taken by our government.

Your gubernatorial appointment brings with it a great deal of responsibility. It is expected that you will maintain the highest level of ethical standards and avoid even the appearance of conflicts of interest. Your preparation for and regular attendance of meetings is vital to the success of your term. I believe that your level of participation will directly correlate to the satisfaction you feel from your experience.

As you put your considerable talents to work, it is also important that you keep in mind the interests of all our state's citizens. State service requires a belief in the public process and a willingness to involve and engage others. You are not only a representative-you are an ambassador to your community.
